XUÂN LONG PHÁI

SPRING DRAGON SCHOOL

Xuân Long Phái official crest

The Xuân Long Phái crest is round.

It is composed of the five elements: metal (white), water (black), wood (blue), fire (red) and earth (golden yellow).

The black and white writing forms a circle reminiscent of the Am Duong or Yin Yang principles in Chinese; the background is blue (wood: movement).

The colours red (fire: spirit) and golden yellow (earth: body) make up the outer (yang) and inner (yin) parts of the logo. Inside the red circle, a golden dragon takes shape.

A new martial arts school

DRAGON SPRING SCHOOL

  • 春 Xuân : spring
  • 龍 Long : dragon
  • 派 Phái : style, school

The term "Xuân Long" expresses a renewal (spring) in the martial art (dragon) & a tribute to the teaching received from Master Pham Xuân Tong.

The style was created on the 1st day of spring in the year of the wooden dragon, 10 February 2024.

PRINCIPLES

The technical training offered by the XUÂN LONG PHAI school is accompanied by three principles which will guide the practitioner along the path of the martial arts, protecting him as far as possible from the traps of discouragement, pusillanimity and pride.

- PERSEVERANCE IN EFFORT: Voluntary mobilisation of physical, intellectual and moral forces, with patience, to overcome resistance or overcome a difficulty.

- VAILLANCE: Virtue displayed by the courageous warrior in the face of danger.

- WISDOM: Knowledge of what is true and good, based on reason and experience.

Three principles like a lamp, with effort as its essence, valour as its flame and wisdom as its light.

A SYMBOL

In Chinese culture, the dragon is a symbol of power and nobility of spirit that brings good luck.

In Vietnam, the story of a hundred eggs incubating a hundred children, also known as the Legend of the Dragon and the Fairy, describes the Vietnamese people as the "Children of the Dragon, Grandchildren of the Immortal" (Con Rồng Cháu Tiên).

In the "Wu Hang" theory of the five elements, it belongs to the wood element.

The dragon is thus associated with spring, development and movement, as well as with the liver: "General of armies", anger and spirituality, and the gall bladder: discernment, decision-making and courage.
